Chili Chan, Morong, Rizal
I love road trips. Especially spontaneous ones but these days, it's hard to go on one because of the weather. So when a chance opened up last weekend, Tim and I went on a road trip at three something in the afternoon. We went to a party the night before, pulled an all-nighter like a bunch of college kids, went home wasted, and woke up at noon.
We were so hungry so we decided to go out, and Tim always has the best ideas. He took me to Morong, Rizal to try Chili Chan -- a quaint roadside restaurant nestled in trees. It was such a long ride from Marikina but I would say it was worth it.
Chili Chan's food selection, although pretty common, was surprisingly cheap given the instagrammable place which surprised me, but Tim pointed out that the restaurant is right across a school campus. Which means they have to look good and to be affordable enough for their target demographic.
The food was okay, its worth its price and more. I tried their sizzling pork chop and Tim had their Lechon Macau -- everything tasted alright, comfy, I would say but Tim knows what makes Chili Chan really good and well, you probably guessed it--their chili garlic sauce. Which Tim generously poured on top of his rice without any sense of hesitation.
I am not a big fan of spicy things, in fact, I'm extremely picky on that department. But by the looks on Tim, he was one satisfied baby. We plan to go back there today had it not rained really hard, but I guess some other time.
What about you? Know any cheap restaurants in your area?
Wow that's great discovery. Masarap din ung nakaka tagpo ka ng masarap na kainan at mura pa.
ReplyDeleteThat's true, what about you may alam ka sa area niyo? :)
ReplyDeleteNot restaurant type yung sa amin, just a stall lang. Masarap yung mami and pares nila. Nadiscover ko lang yung kainan na yun accidentally but super sarap ng food. Kaya binabalik balikan talaga
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool! May paresan din kami binabalik balikan around Cainta. Grabe, nothing beats a hearty bowl of pares tapos sobrang mura pa huhu ka-addict minsan hahaha
